Let’s get better and do it together.” - Mz. Anita.

Every community is affected by gun violence. A special part of LSC is dedicated to the memory Anita Rowe Franklin and Trinity Gay. At different points in time, both people left a lasting impact on the Lexington community. In 2014, Anita Franklin lost her son, Antonio Franklin, Jr., to gun violence. Two short years later, Trinity Gay’s life was ended prematurely by gun violence. In both instances, they were innocent victims. Uniquely, they both participated in track and field at their respective high schools.

In 2020, Anita’s longstanding advocacy took a pause, when she passed suddenly on Feb. 24th. A nurse turned advocate, she turned her grief, and that of others, into a movement that changed the level of awareness and action not only in the Lexington community, yet on state and national levels as well.
